What Is Included in a Dental Examination?

Are digital X-rays or other diagnostic images taken at every visit?

No. Imaging is recommended when clinically appropriate. The dentist considers the patient’s history, symptoms, risk factors, previous images, and examination findings.

Do you check for gum disease during dental exams?

Can I request only a cleaning without an examination?
